The Australian Psychological Society 2024-2025 recommended schedule of fees has set the standard consultation fee at $318.00. Our fees are set below this recommended rate.

Fees are consistent for in-person sessions at our beautiful clinic rooms in Brisbane, or via Telehealth.

Medicare Rebates

With a Medicare Mental Health Plan, you can receive support for mental health disorders with up to 10 sessions partially covered by Medicare each calendar year.

To get started, simply visit your GP for an assessment to see if you qualify for a mental health plan. Be sure to tell your GP that you’d like to see Foundations. If you qualify, you can book your sessions with our registered or clinical psychologists. Medicare will provide a rebate to help offset the costs, making quality care more accessible.

Medicare Pregnancy Support Scheme

Pregnancy support counselling through the Medicare scheme is available for clients with a current or recent pregnancy (within the last 12 months) who have any concerns, such as decisions about the future, adjustment following the pregnancy, or general issues related to a pregnancy. The partner of the client can also attend the counselling session, if appropriate.

There are important differences between pregnancy support counselling and mental health psychological services under Medicare.

The pregnancy support counselling referral is not specifically for a mental health disorder, but can be for parenting, health or relationship concerns.
The pregnancy support counselling rebate only covers 3 sessions, at a rebate of $72.55, although you may continue working with the psychologist as a private patient, or be referred again under another appropriate initiative. Speak to your GP about the suitability of other Medicare services.

Private Health Insurance

At Foundations, our psychologists are registered with private health insurance providers across Australia. If you hold a private health insurance policy, you may be eligible for rebates on psychological sessions.

Important Considerations:

The level of coverage and any waiting periods can differ between providers and depend on your specific extras cover policy.
To determine your eligibility and the amount you can claim for psychological sessions, please reach out directly to your private health insurance provider.

National Disability Insurance Scheme

Our clinicians accept NDIS funding for therapy where there is appropriate allocation indicated on your NDIS plan. Individual service agreements will be arranged for all new clients.

The NDIS covers $232.99 of the session fee. Depending on your clinician (psychologist, clinical psychologist, senior clinical psychologist or director), there will be an additional copayment fee in line with our standard clinical rates outlined above.

If you are plan-managed, your NDIS coordinator will be invoiced $232.99 and you will be invoiced the copayment fee to pay privately. If you are self-managed, you will be invoiced the full standard clinical fee.

Our policies regarding NDIS funding payments are subject to change in line with any future changes made by the NDIA.

Cancellation and Non-Attendance Policy

Our clinic is committed to providing high-quality care in a timely and reliable manner.

Late cancellations and non-attendance affect the psychologist’s time, other clients waiting for appointments, and your own progress in therapy.

To ensure fairness and continuity of care, the following policy applies:

Cancellation Timeframe

A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment without incurring a fee.
For Monday appointments, cancellations must be received by 4:00 PM on the preceding Friday to avoid a fee.

Late Cancellation and Non-Attendance

Appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice will incur the full consultation fee.
Non-attendance (failing to attend without notice) will also be charged at the full fee.
These fees are not claimable through Medicare or private health insurance.

New Client Appointments

If a new client fails to attend their first appointment without notice, a second appointment will not be offered.
A non-refundable deposit may be required to secure initial appointments.

Emergencies and Discretion

We understand that unexpected events can occur. In cases of genuine emergency or illness, please contact the clinic as soon as possible. Fee waivers may be considered at the clinic’s discretion and may require medical documentation.

Appointment Confirmation

You will receive an SMS reminder four days prior to your appointment.
If confirmation is not received within 48 hours, the appointment will be considered confirmed.

Late Arrival

Clients who arrive more than 15 minutes late may not be seen, and the session may be considered a non-attendance. Sessions cannot be extended to make up for late arrival.

Ongoing Cancellations

If multiple appointments are cancelled at short notice or missed, the clinic may:

Require prepayment for future sessions; or
Limit or discontinue ongoing bookings.

Rescheduling Responsibility

If you cancel or miss a session, it is your responsibility to contact the clinic to reschedule. We cannot guarantee the same appointment time will be available.

Clinic-Initiated Cancellations

In the unlikely event that the clinic or your psychologist must cancel an appointment (e.g., due to illness or emergency), you will not be charged a fee. We will offer to reschedule at the earliest convenience.
